What does a caring society require from prison or corrections reform?

Women in contact with the criminal justice system across the globe face gender-specific discrimination and institutional barriers across the justice chain.

This panel discussion will address some of the challenges faced by women deprived of their liberty and highlight innovative approaches to transforming prison and penitentiary systems from a feminist perspective of care.

The panelists will discuss discriminatory laws, policies, and practices that drive the criminalization and prosecution of women from an intersectional perspective; the link between care agendas and penitentiary and justice policy; and good practices. They will also identify recommendations to embed a care-based approach in penitentiary and justice policies. The panel will be followed by a Q&A.
