Vance Center Participates in UC Berkeley Law Panel on Sexual Harassment in Africa

Vance Center Africa Program Director Adaobi Egboka joined panelists for a conversation on Sexual Harassment in Africa at the annual Continuing Legal Education (CLE) conference hosted on January 23-24 by the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality & Anti-Discrimination Law. Vance Center Helps Train Lawyers Across Southern Africa on Environmental Law

Photo credit: Natural Justice.  More than 50 lawyers from 10 southern African countries convened in Cape Town from December 5-8 for an environmental and climate litigation training, covering topics ranging from climate change to critical minerals to carbon markets. Inspired by the 2023 theme of the parallel UN campaign, “UNITE! Vance Center Africa Program Co-Hosts UNGA Week Side Events

Access to Justice  On September 19, the Vance Center and African Center of Excellence for Access to Justice brought together legal professionals, community justice practitioners, and leaders from around the world for a rich, insightful discussion entitled “Strengthening Access to Justice: Bridging the Gap between Lawyers and Community Practitioners.”  A group of expert community practitioners from six countries in Africa, alongside two Vance Center Committee members, discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between legal practitioners and community advocates, and strategies to address systemic barriers to justice for marginalized populations.
