City Bar Statement Expressing Concerns Over Reprisals and Attacks Against Latin American Judges
Posted on June 1, 2026Español In a new statement, the New York City Bar Association expressed deep concern about a troubling pattern of increasing attacks on judicial independence in Latin America. These have included incidents of disciplinary reprisals, criminal proceedings against judges for the content of their rulings, public smear campaigns based on false accusations, and in the most extreme cases, deadly physical violence.
