Vance Center Welcomes New Lawyers for Reporters Program Assistant

Laur Kim joined the Vance Center in September 2024 as Program Assistant for Lawyers for Reporters, supporting the initiative’s capacity to provide legal support to independent reporting organizations throughout the United States. Most recently, Laur worked at UBS as an auditor trainee, where she focused on non-financial risks. Laur holds a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations, and minors in Law & Society, Information Science, and Inequality Studies from Cornell University. She is bilingual in English and Korean and is a volunteer English conversation teacher for women and girls in Afghanistan. read more

Vance Center Welcomes New Lawyers for Reporters Staff Attorney

Photo: Audrey Tanenbaum Audrey Tanenbaum joined the Vance Center in February 2024 as the third full-time attorney working for the Lawyers for Reporters program. She advises clients on a range of media and First Amendment law issues.    Before joining Lawyers for Reporters, Audrey worked in antitrust litigation at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and was a legal fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, a Washington DC-based nonprofit, where she conducted prepublication review, drafted numerous amicus briefs, and staffed a legal hotline for journalists.   Audrey received her J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law. Vance Center Expands Press Freedom Work with New Funding, New Clients

Reporters Shield   The Vance Center expanded the capacity of its Reporters Shield program thanks to a generous grant from the Oak Foundation.   The first-time grant from the Oak Foundation has helped the Vance Center organize and manage the legal components of Reporters Shield – critical steps toward building a network of lawyers and law firms to facilitate pro bono representation of investigative journalism around the world. This funding also crucially supports the Vance Center’s continued institutional growth, including through enhanced communications and fundraising capacities.
