Vance Center Welcomes New Pro Bono Legal Manager

Pedro Villegas joined the Vance Center in June 2025 as Pro Bono Legal Manager. In this role, he oversees the placement and tracking of pro bono projects with law firms and clearinghouses, and leads the Vance Center’s pro bono promotion efforts and the Keep Families Together initiative. Prior to joining the Vance Center, Pedro served as Senior Program Officer at the International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP), where he coordinated and implemented pro bono legal projects across Latin America, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Vance Center Welcomes New Lawyers for Reporters Program Assistant

Laur Kim joined the Vance Center in September 2024 as Program Assistant for Lawyers for Reporters, supporting the initiative’s capacity to provide legal support to independent reporting organizations throughout the United States. Most recently, Laur worked at UBS as an auditor trainee, where she focused on non-financial risks. Laur holds a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations, and minors in Law & Society, Information Science, and Inequality Studies from Cornell University. She is bilingual in English and Korean and is a volunteer English conversation teacher for women and girls in Afghanistan. read more

Vance Center Welcomes New Institutional Integrity Program Advisor

Cuitláhuac Castillo Camarena joined the Vance Center in September 2024 as Program Advisor for the Institutional Integrity Program. In this role, he works with judges’ associations and clients to strengthen judicial independence in Latin America and supports efforts led by the Lawyers Council for Civil and Economic Rights in the Americas to address corruption.  Prior to joining the Vance Center, Cuitláhuac built a career in the Mexican judiciary, beginning at a Federal Criminal Court in Guanajuato before advancing to the Mexican Supreme Court. Vance Center Welcomes New Public Interest Reporting Staff

Arianne Seenauth joined the Vance Center in September 2024 as a paralegal for Reporters Shield and Lawyers for Reporters. Arianne previously served as a peacebuilding consultant to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education in Sierra Leone, where she supported efforts to uphold and enhance freedom of the press and information, as well as to strengthen institutions working on civic education. She previously worked as a paralegal at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and as a legal assistant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Shaydah Ghom joined the Vance Center in March 2024 as Engagement and Development Associate. In this role, she contributes to the organization’s capacity across multiple function areas, including through programmatic support, strategic communications, and development operations.   Shaydah previously worked to advance program development at In-Sight Collaborative, where she provided research and policy insights on issues of forced displacement, human rights, and the humanitarian and development sectors. Photo: Audrey Tanenbaum Audrey Tanenbaum joined the Vance Center in February 2024 as the third full-time attorney working for the Lawyers for Reporters program. She advises clients on a range of media and First Amendment law issues.    Before joining Lawyers for Reporters, Audrey worked in antitrust litigation at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and was a legal fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, a Washington DC-based nonprofit, where she conducted prepublication review, drafted numerous amicus briefs, and staffed a legal hotline for journalists.   Audrey received her J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law.
