Vance Center Good Governance Program in the Media

The World News Publishing Focus of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers published a podcast, featuring Vance Center Executive Director Alexander Papachristou, describing the model contract for freelance journalist that the Vance Center developed on behalf of A Culture of Safety Alliance and the Frontline Freelance Register.  The model contract provides options for freelance journalists and media organizations commissioning their work, related to compensation, expense reimbursement, insurance, intellectual property rights, and other key provisions.  The Vance Center also helped ACOS Alliance to develop an insurance program for freelance journalists working in conflict conditions.

The Global Investigative Journalism Network published a case study by Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project co-executive director Paul Radu regarding the recent settlement of a defamation claim against him by an Azerbaijani parliamentarian.  The London office of Weil provided principal pro bono representation of Radu, with the Vance Center advising OCCRP.
